Ribbon Cable Types
Ribbon Cable Types
Ribbon cables, like other cables, have different ribbon cable types. Therefore, we would consider the five types of ribbon cables, including:
Rainbow Ribbon Cable
Rainbow ribbon cables are similar to the standard ribbon cables. The rainbow colors help to identify and organize easily. Also, similar to the resistor color doing, where brown can be painted on pin 1. It works the same way as the red stripe on one edge of a standard ribbon cable.
Twisted Ribbon Cable
The twisted pair ribbon cables are different from standard ribbon cables. In contrast, they have two pairs of twisted and bonded conductors. One advantage of twisted ribbon cable is that it reduces crosstalk.
Standard Ribbon Cable
The standard ribbon cable comes with the ease of mass termination. One characteristic of the ribbon cables — they are grey.
Round to Flat Ribbon Cable
This ribbon cable combines large-scale terminal functionality with the simplicity of discrete wire and cable. More so, the conductors are folded into a circular frame and are split apart at the other end. It makes it easy for them to use. In general, this type of ribbon cable is suitable for tight space areas.
Bonded Ribbon Cable
Bonded ribbon cables are organized and do not seem to be scattered in place. However, it is not as flexible as other types. Therefore, it is difficult to apply in small space. An advantage of this cable is that it provides direct large-scale terminations for a range of cable products. In addition, bonded ribbon cables have 3 types: Single Hook-Up wire, Coaxial cable, and Multi-Conductor cable.
